Red River Gorge Adventure

Good Evening Hikers, Backpackers and Adventurers! With the up and coming holiday, some people may have some extended time off. This is a great time to head out to Red River Gorge and enjoy a beautiful weekend in the wilderness!

Be sure to click this text -OR- the See More… link for the entire event description.

All members are automatically invited to these events, so please ignore or click on Can’t Go if you are not able to participate!

The Red River Gorge is a unique, scenic natural area with spectacular rock features, including sandstone arches and towering cliffs. Outdoor enthusiasts come to the gorge year-round to enjoy hiking, camping, canoeing, wildlife viewing and other recreation opportunities.

The Red River Gorge is designated a Geological Area, National Natural Landmark and National Archaeological District and placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

We will be visiting three (3) off-trail locations that are not well known in the area and require rock scrambling and technical hiking. Indian Staircase and Cloudsplitter will be on Day 1 for the day-hikers and Hanson’s Point will be the final destination for backpackers. Please note that these areas are less travelled in the park and required a degree of knowledge when hiking. Please pay close attention to hike leads and be prepared to use extra caution.
