~ You are all invited to an Easter Adventure! You will never feel more at peace than an early spring hike into the wilderness. As new life flows back into the dormant forests, come share its beauty with us. ~

Thanks to Snake Stepper for this adventure recommendation. Our plan is to experience at least 4 waterfalls and several miles of hiking/backpacking in beautiful Gorges State Park, North Carolina. This is a new location for MHC and we are looking forward to learning together in this area.

This adventure is free to all members and is suited for Day-Hikers and Back-Packers. The Day-Hiking members can meet at any section during the adventure. Please indicate if you are a Day-Hiker or Back-Packer.

This is a Fur-Baby Friendly area, so bring along your four-legged hiking pals to enjoy nature with you. Liberty will be involved in every part of this adventure. If you have issues with dogs, please take that into consideration when planning on participating. All dogs must be leashed and/or under physical control by their owner.

~ITINERARY~

March 25th, 2016
Easy to Moderate Hiking (~8.00 miles total – optional ~4.5 miles additional)

12:00pm – .75 miles – Arrive at Ray Fisher Trailhead and backpack to primitive campsite location
1:00pm – 1.25 miles – Road hike to Bearwallow Valley Trail at Park Station
1:30pm – 1.00 miles – Hike Bearwallow Valley Trail to Overlook then to Bearwallow Falls Trail
2:30pm – 1.00 miles – Hike Bearwallow Falls Trail to Bearwallow Falls and explore
3:30pm – 4.00 miles – Return Hike to Raymond Fisher Campsite backtracking route
5:00pm – Enjoy camping for the evening
Optional Addition:
6:30pm – 4.50 miles RT – Possible road hike to view sunset at overlook

10:30am – 1.50 miles – Hike Rainbow Falls Trail to Hidden Falls, Turtleback Falls and Rainbow Falls
12:30pm – Enjoy lunch with friends at Rainbow Falls
2:00pm – 2.00 miles – Return Hike to Raymond Fisher Campsite backtracking route
Optional Addition:
6:30pm – 4.50 miles RT – Possible road hike to view sunset at overlook

March 27th, 2016
Easy to Moderate Hiking (.75 miles total)

10:00am – .75 miles – Return to Parking area via Raymond Fisher Trail
Optional Addition:
Drive to Overlook while leaving

3 Day Adventure
Total Miles (12.75) with optional additions of (9.00)

Remember this is the South East and the weather can change every 7 minutes. Be prepared for cooler nights and bring plenty of water. You should have enough food / snacks for two nights and 1.5 days.

Maps and directions to the trailhead and starting campsite will be posted in the event, so please pay close attention and contact me if you have any questions. I will take care of permits and the sites can accommodate many people, so please let me know your intention to join us, so I can plan accordingly.   1. This trip is not just for over-nighters or backpackers! I strongly encourage Day-Hikers to this area, as the trails are designed for day hiking and you will have a lot of options when choosing which portion of the adventure you want to participate in.
