Midlife Hiking Club Review 03-2016
Midlife Hikers took an Easter weekend trip to Gorges State Park and this trail was one of the access trails to the Primitive Camping Area. In order to camp at Gorges State Park you must make a reservation before arriving. They do have a sign-up Kiosk available for walk-ins, but I would not count on availability.

The trailhead is huge with information Kiosks about the surrounding parks, natural areas and the wildlife in the area. Make sure you are looking for Grassy Ridge Trailhead. The signs on the road do not mention Raymond Fisher or Rainbow Falls.

Rainbow Falls Trailhead Access and Raymond Fisher Trail run together for about .5 miles until splitting off. Watch for signs on blazes Rainbow Falls is a Orange Circle Blaze.

Raymond Fisher Trail is pretty straightforward and easy. Downhill on the way in and Uphill on the way out. With a heavy load to the camp you may feel your legs burning just a bit.

The trail ends at a nice little pond. The pond was man-made by one of the original homesteaders in the area. Information can be found on the Kiosk at the camping area.

The primitive campsite are pretty far removed from primitive. They are very luxurious if you’re used to roughing it in the back-country. But the firepits, picnic tables and toilets all make for a nice relaxing weekend in the middle of the woods.

This trail is dog friendly and kid friendly with no real concerns for danger. I would recommend this trail for a great walk in nature!
