As most of you know we tend to repeat some adventures in the off-season to allow more people to experience these areas and not miss out on the seasonal and newer adventures. We have a lot planned this year so stay tuned over the next couple of weeks!

We will be watching the weather on this one, since the forecast is currently scattered thunderstorms 50% chance. However, this is Tennessee and you never know. So pay attention to the event details in case something changes or get postponed!

This adventure is free to all members and will good for dayhikers and backpackers. The day hiking group will be hiking out with the backpackers from the Stone Door Ranger Station.

1. 9:00am CST Meetup – Stone Door Overnight Parking Lot

2. 9:15am CST Setup Camp at Stonedoor Campsite #11

3. 10:15am-11:45am CST Hike OUT Laurel Trail 2.9 miles (NOTE: Laurel Trail is directly behind the Ranger Station!!).

3. 11:45am-12:30pm CST Hike OUT Greeter Trail 1.4 miles to Greeter Falls and Blue Hole.

4. 12:30pm-2:00pm CST Explore Greeter Falls and Blue Hole Area.

5. 2:00pm-4:15pm CST Return to Stone Door Camp.

7. 5:00pm CST Day hikers can hang out for dinner or just for fun by the fire. We will be discussing this years adventure goals and just relaxing for the evening!

8. 10:00am CST The following morning backpackers will pack up and head home.

Hiking Miles: ~4.5 miles out and ~4.5 miles back (9 miles)
You should allow yourself 30 mins per mile as this route not considered strenuous. The approximate times listed above are best guesses based on experience and general pace of the group.

Alternative, but strenuous addition to this hike is available for hikers who wish to bypass the backtrack. You can continue on Big Creek Gulf Trail to Stonedoor Trail. This route is difficult terrain and considered very strenuous. Ask me for details if you are considering this alternate adventure.

This area is really special for our dog, Liberty. It was her first real hike, making a mark for all little legged basset-beagles.

This is an easy hike for people of average skill level. Everyone is welcome and will enjoy the beautiful early spring weather in the gorge.

Remember this is Tennessee and the weather can change every 7 minutes. Be prepared for cooler nights and bring plenty of water. You should have enough food / snacks for two nights and 1.5 days.

Maps and directions to the trailhead and starting campsite will be posted in the event, so please pay close attention and contact me if you have any questions. I will take care of permits and the sites can accommodate many people, so please let me know your intention to join us, so I can plan accordingly.
