Midlife Hikers Review

The Indian Staircase is a less traveled landmark in the Daniel Boone National Forest, but it is a must see. This spur trail leading up to the staircase is not marked very well on the Sheltowee Trace but look out for the trail marker that has IS scratched into it turn right and there is the spur.

The hike to the base of the staircase is not bad at all and most can complete it without a problem. From the base to the top of the staircase there are several options. Most options require rock scrambling and some are more dangerous than others. Choose your path carefully and make your way to the top.

The staircase does have an exit route from the very top, so you don’t have to hike back down the steep rock faces. The view are spectacular from the top. Just be careful!!
