Midlife Hikers Review

After hiking down the East Side Ridge for a mile past White Rock Overlook and Camp Junction you arrive at the Sand Cave Spur Trail. This trail is pretty easy with several steps towards the end. You can take a off trail run beside the cave to avoid steps, but there are a couple a dangerous rock scrambles to do so.

The sand cave is a true wonder of the area and a must see if you visit Cumberland Gap. I cannot express how beautiful this place is. If there has been some rain lately you will see a fantastic little waterfall pouring over the left side of the cave.

This area would be a great spot to stop and eat lunch. The closest thing to a beach without the beach. I would recommend this hike for anyone of average skill level.
